A Premier League report on the 2007/08 season estimated that 77% of fans spend money at games and that each spends on average c. £11. If, as per reason no. 3, a club converted 4,000 seats into a safe standing area for 7,200 fans, it could generate over £500,000 of extra secondary match-day revenue over a 20-game season (3,200 x 0.77 x £11 x 20 = £542,080).
