Roadshow visits Supporters Direct Fans' Day

July 2011. Fans of Chester City and FC United of Manchester joined together on July 16th in support of the concept of rail seats for safe standing. At the Supporters Direct Fans' Day in Chester, numerous fans of both clubs - and many others - stopped by the roadshow to learn more about rail seats and lend their support.

The Supporters Direct Fans' Weekend had begun on the Friday with the SD's annual conference and continued on the Saturday with a Fans' Day at Chester City's Bumpers Lane ground. With a large marquee set up in the stadium car park, fans heard keynote speeches from the likes of Guardian journalist David Conn, enjoyed a barbecue and licensed bar and were able to stroll out to the front of the marquee and try out rail seats on the prominently positioned roadshow unit.

Comments such as "It's a no brainer" and "I can't understand why it's not allowed" were pretty much the flavour of the day, the climax of which was a friendly match - for the 'Supporters Direct Cup' - between Chester City and FC United of Manchester, which the hosts won 2-1.
