Double bill standing roadshow at Fratton Park

At the invitation of several Portsmouth supporters' organisations, the Safe Standing Roadshow visited Fratton Park in October 2011 for a double-bill event: first a demonstration for club officials, politicians and the emergency services and later an open house for fans.

Set up in the Pitchside Bar, the roadshow opened its doors for the first session of the day at 4pm. This was attended by a group of around two dozen, made up of police officers, members of the ambulance service, local councillors and members of the football club's staff, including chief executive David Lampitt. All seemed very interested, with, for instance, Councillor Lee Hunt (Cabinet Member Culture, Leisure & Sport) promising at the end of the session to circulate all of his council colleagues with details of the rail seat proposal, expressing his support for the idea.

Later, a steady stream of supporters popped in and were told all about safe standing and rail seats.
