Rail seats make UK debut at fans charity match

November 2011. Bristol Rovers and Bristol City supporters at the 2011 Bristol Fans Derby were able to watch a football game from a safe standing area fitted with rail seats - a first anywhere in the UK!

The Safe Standing Roadshow turned up at the annual charity match between fans of the two Bristol clubs and set the rail seat unit up just feet from the touchline facing the pitch. Supporters were thus able to step up onto the stand and watch the game while standing at the rail seats.

Among those trying the unit out during the course of the afternoon was Bristol City full-back Cole Skuse (pictured top right).

The match took place at Yate Town FC in front of a crowd of several hundred and raised money for the Bristol City Community Trust, Bristol Rovers Community Trust and a local Yate charity.
