2. Their stadium stewards would welcome it. Under the current arrangements club stewards face the thankless task at every game of trying to persuade hundreds or thousands of their club’s most passionate supporters to sit down. They have to this even though they know that the fans in several areas of the stadium (typically in the 'home' and 'away' ends would prefer to stand and that forcing them to sit may create bad feeling and tension that would otherwise not exist.

The introduction of designated standing areas would eliminate this tension.
