Safe Standing, The Silent Movie
Summer 2012. During a two-day break in the Euro 2012 tournament (where, incidentally, as I am sure you will have seen, fans of every nation stood en masse to support their side) the Safe Standing Roadshow team paid a visit to Hannover and the ground of local Bundesliga side Hannover 96.
Day 1 featured a private visit by a Championship club (more of that later), while day 2 was a day of filming.
A reporter/producer and cameraman from video production company Evensaul were in town to produce some generic footage of rail seats, to record a ready-to-air report and to interview campaigners, fans and local club representatives.Hannover 96 fan liaison officer Frank Watermann and his colleague Johannes Seidel looked after us superbly and the footage that was shot will now be edited and then given to all UK broadcasters free of charge to use as they see fit in their future reports on the safe standing debate.
In addition to the generic footage and reportage, we also filmed 'Safe Standing, The Silent Movie'! With excellent cameo roles from Frank and Johannes, the movie stars a larger than life bunny and highlights the idiocy of the current standing ban in a humorous way. Look out for it in cinemas - or rather on computer screens - near you soon!
